National Police Chiefs’ Council
MAPS® works in accordance with the National Police Chiefs’ Council on computer-based electronic evidence and only uses TIGER and CHECK approved providers.
MAPS® IT Forensic Services brings you the finest experts in cyber security offering the financial, banking, insolvency and commercial world the reassurance of only using a CHECK approved provider.
CHECK standard
CHECK is a standard set by National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which is the Information Security arm of GCHQ. Only a small number of IT security companies in the world have achieved this accolade to date. CHECK service providers are currently permitted to work on systems processing protectively marked information including CONFIDENTIAL (and also top SECRET with NCSC approval). MAPS® combats cyber crimes
Whatever your forensic IT requirements, MAPS® can resolve them via our consultative approach. The MAPS® team understands that if your organisation holds personal information, credit card details and plans held on computer networks then your commercial and governmental reputation within your industry and the media can be ruined by cyber criminals overnight.
In simple terms it is commercially wise to guard and plan for an attack than to try to recover once your systems and reputation have been compromised. Furthermore, the recovery/discovery of information (data) that has been deleted/moved or hidden by unscrupulous employees or directors can be located and recovered.
For example, you may need to recover information from a damaged laptop or mobile phone, or require the capturing of data from a company’s server that has just gone into administration to safeguard the data integrity and audit trail.
Whatever the issue, we will apply the appropriate solution in line with National Police Chiefs’ Council and the Crown Prosecution Service should a civil or criminal prosecution be appropriate.
Pen Testing (Penetration Testing).
What is Pen Testing? In simple terms penetration testing is the process of actively evaluating your information security measures by an active real-time assessment of your systems.
The term Penetration Testing is sometimes known and referred to within the cyber security world as Vulnerability Audit or Technical Assessment. The results and assessment of a Pen Test will then be documented in a report and presented in a debriefing session.
From this report we can then make sure your business is IT secure and complying with the expected due diligence and compliance of your industry regulators. A failure in security coupled with a lapse of industry regulations can lead to large fines imposed by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and loss of reputation. Both local government and commercial companies have unwittingly fallen victim to this scenario. In February of 2012 two London boroughs were fined by the ICO for breaches of the Data Protection Act 1998.
IT Fraud or computer misuse?
If you suspect computer misuse or IT fraud within your business or organisation contact MAPS® now!
The correct forensic examination of IT equipment and systems will be vital to a successful criminal or civil investigation/prosecution. MAPS® will help to secure and quantify your position with your HR manager/directors covertly before you take civil (disciplinary) or criminal action.
The production of evidence for computer fraud or misuse is often overlooked by the police in the initial enquiry due to lack of training and understanding. MAPS® will secure the evidence so as not to alert the perpetrator by a police presence. All evidence will be gathered in line with National Police Chiefs’ Council procedures and then presented to the appropriate authorities should further action need to be taken:
Your requirements may be one of the following:
